This charger is compatible with lithium ion battery packs only. The rechargeable battery pack is interchangeable for quick turnaround in between dives. The newer Smart Charger for Li- Ion 2nd Gen is safe for use with Lithium Ion 1st Gen battery packs but will not provide charge termination feedback via the LED indicator light. The Smart Charger for Li-Ion 1st Gen may be used with this newer battery pack but may reduce the lifetime of the battery. For easy reference, chargers and compatible battery packs are color coded to each other. Existing NiMH and NiCad batteries are forward-compatible with new strobes.
